Q: What are the objectives of the Street Marshals?

A: We have 5 main objectives. Through our presence we endeavour to:-

3.Prevent loss and waste
4.Prevent crime, which means we:-

Q: Can a Street Marshal arrest me?

A: Although we are the 'eyes and ears' of the Police and Ambulance crews we do not set out to arrest people.
Only by instruction from higher authorities will we detain a person or when serious crime could be prevented or has already occurred.

Q: How many Street Marshals patrol and where?

A: We have a team of eight Street Marshals and we patrol on a rotating circuit in and around the city centre.

Q: How can Street Marshals help door staff?

A: We can help in a number of ways. Passing on information about problematic individuals or groups to help preserve the peace is a primary function. Because Street Marshals are S.I.A. licensed and fully insured we can literally 'mind the door' of a venue when door staff are dealing with incidents, or in fact assist door staff with incidents control when emergency situations arise. Many other benefits are of value to licensees and door staff.
